Dear montex,

Looks you are not the only one:

Do you already have Servicepack 2 of Automation License Manager v4?

Hey there,

Is there an error message showing somewhere at startup the the cryptographic provider initialization failed? If so, you need to delete the folder C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Crypto - but create a backup before. Then restart your system.

Have Fun!

Hi... I also have the same problem as montex. No there is no any error like - cryptographic provider initialization failed? My simatic manager is working properly using the license key which is not shown by ALM. (The ALM  do not show any of the license key i.e. not trial license key also, the view in ALM is completely blank)

Regards,
Niraj P

Hello,
I've seen this behaviour on our customers PC. It was solved by installation of the SP2 for the ALM V4 as suggested above.

Martin:

There is another folder called Crypto, it´s @ C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Microsoft\Crypto. At the moment to delete the Crypto folder as the posts said, do this folder remains unchanged?

Can I delete the folder directly from Windows? Because I tried to do it only pressing the delete key, the system only shown that the folder as being deleted, but nothing happened. It remains without change. Or do I have to use the commands you mentioned?

I made a copy of Crypto from the previous posts route, its stored @ my hard disk data partition, in case to need it can I restore it? Or do I need a security backup from Windows directly?

Thank you in advance...
Best regards...

I never heared about anyone who needed the backup, but in such cases I always recommend doing a backup as nobody knows who will be the first one (anyone must be the first blink )

Some about my solved problem.
I have Field PG M2 with preinstalled software.
In each morning my PG once sporadically rebooted after its power on.
And after this morning reboot ALM lost ALL licenses!!!
Reinstalling is not solved problem.
ALM did not see keys in all drives include floppy drive.
But deleting filder "Crypto" is helping to me.
Thanks.
