• RS 485 interface
  Permits communication between several series 6 and ULTRAMAT 23 analyzers over the internal bus (ELAN) for cross correction. Parameterization is carried out using the analyzer’s menu.
• Siprom GA
  Siprom GA is a "freeware" software package for communication between PC/laptop and series 6 and ULTRAMAT 23 analyzers . It is used for parameterization, maintenance and diagnostics. Siprom GA is based on RS 485. Networking with an Ethernet connection through a gateway is also possible.

• Simatic PDM
  Operation of the gas analyzers from a control system or a separate PC is possible by using SIMATIC PDM (Process Device Manager); this software executes under Windows and can also be integrated into the SIMATIC PCS 7 process control system. This permits a clear presentation for integration of the analyzers in the system as well as for the complex parameter structure within each analyzer.

• Ethernet
  For service and maintenance purposes LDS 6 and Sitrans SL can send and receive data over an Ethernet connection (10BaseT) using LDSComm software. This service and maintenance tool enables checking and adaption of device status and calibration parameters from a remote location. If necessary, even a complete system check can be carried out over the remote connection. If servicing is necessary, the required information can be sent by modem to the Siemens service engineer who will then carry out the appropriate measures from the remote location. This facility for remote maintenance and diagnostics is implemented using a standard LAN modem.

• Sitrans SL Modbus
  Modbus is a protocol for controlling data transfer between two computer systems. Modbus is the de facto industry standard for connecting measuring and control devices to process control systems (PCS). Most process control systems can be equipped with serial interfaces and Modbus. Information can be read from the gas analyzer and certain functions can also be parameterized. SITRANS SL supports Modbus RTU communication via RS485 interface.

Software 

• MAXUM Workstation software
  The Windows-based Workstation makes configuration, system diagnostics and system monitoring easy. System Manager displays current status and alarms of all analyzers on a network. Lab GC software EZChrom provides a tool for display and easy analysis of chromatograms, as well as modification of methods. MaxBASIC Editor and Simulated Distillation Builder provide specialty tools for customizing applications. Data Logger and other utilities provide data capture, software backup and more. The software is suitable for both basic and demanding analytical applications. 
• Maxum Maintenance Panel
  Maintenance Panel is ideally suited for routine operation in the field. It provides simple and direct access to all maintenance functions. The use of a graphical display for complete presentation of information makes operation intuitive and easy. Provision of "hot-keys" and shortcuts for fewer key strokes saves time for experienced users. The display of real-time chromatograms helps to conduct maintenance tasks. Storage of complete previous chromatograms with voltages and cycle times for future comparison to simplify on-going maintenance is also possible. Maintenance Panel provides access to each GC in a network (peer-to-peer communication). 
• CVControl Software
  Operating the SITRANS CV with the CVControl software is simple thanks to the easy to use graphical user interface. This software has been especially developed for energy measurements. It features a password protected fiscal metering mode. Based on a software tool "automatic optimization", SITRANS CV optimizes the column switching commands and retention windows depending on the current retention times. This improves the repeatability of the calorific value measurement and aging processes are automatically compensated. Reports including measurements and all calculated values are stored for 100 days, hourly averages for 1 year, daily averages for 2 years and monthly averages for more than 100 years.

• Modbus
  Modbus is a protocol for controlling data transfer between two computer systems. Modbus is the de facto industry standard for connecting measuring and control devices to process control systems (PCS). Most process control systems can be equipped with serial interfaces and Modbus. Using the Modbus coupling, information can be sent interference-proof via just one data line. Information can be read from process gas chromatographs (PGC), and certain functions of the PGC can also be parameterized. 
• OPC server
  OPC is a vendor-independent software interface. It allows standardized access from Windows applications to chromatograph data. OPC corresponds to typical client/server architecture. OPC allows a universal connection between any Windows application which supports an OPC client interface and the MAXUM edition II / MicroSAM. 
• NAU - Network Access Unit
  The Network Access Unit (NAU) is an input/output station for the Siemens process chromatographs. It can be used to centrally collect and relay process data. It is used where it is not possible to connect the electronics close to the analyzer, if the number of MAXUM edition II / MicroSAM inputs/outputs is insufficient, or if installation in a central control room is required. This significantly reduces the required wiring to the control room.

ASM - Analyzer System Manager

The wide range of different analyzers used in a plant distinct from each other in terms of communication options, operation principle and maintenance demand. Hence, a common look and feel for some basic functionality is desirable. Siemens Analyzer System Manager (ASM) is a software tool that facilitates the management of various analyzers in large networks.
The ASM Software and the associated communication infrastructure are used to capture, correct, and transfer measured values, and to set and modify basic device parameters. Furthermore, calibration and validation settings need to be updated and status signals checked. It enables data to be clearly displayed and evaluated, performance figures to be drawn up, and maintenance jobs recorded. ASM also offers tools for network diagnostics, statistical evaluations, and data display. It is therefore the perfect tool for Analyzer Asset Management.
