One function of primary production
is to create a basis for best-possible product
quality through optimal control and coordination
of all processes. This includes, for example,
controlling material flows before the dryer,
and regulating the addition of casing.
That’s why we’ve designed our
systems with closed transport paths and intelligent
dosing belt scales which operate according
to the simple principle of rate = weight
x speed. A Siemens dosing belt scale consists
of a control system, variable frequency drive
(VFD) and intelligent sensors directly on
the belt. The control system evaluates the
data, compares it with the desired  PID parameters
and makes any necessary adjustments.
The result is a reliable and controlled
rate of material flow using a controller
that can respond flexibly and quickly to
fluctuations in material quality – a
very important advantage when you’re
dealing with a natural product such as tobacco.
