Solids Processing
Many products in chemical technology either pass through the solid state during manufacturing or leave production as a solid substance with defined properties.
When solids are generated by crystallization or precipitation, important properties of the final product such as purity, particle size and particle shape are already determined. The mechanical step of solid-liquid separation is used not only for isolation of the solid product but also for recovery of wastewater streams. For economic manufacture of dry substances, it is particularly important to design an optimum drying process.
When solid substances have to be manufactured to narrow specifications, sophisticated knowledge of bulk materials and particle technology, i.e. of comminution, sieving, gas-solid separation, and granulation, is essential. The main task in comminution is to choose from the multitude of current state-of-the-art technologies, including combination with a suitable gas-solid separation technique. The granulation step is a pathway to high-quality product characteristics, where good flowability, low dust content and defined dissolution kinetics can be obtained.
In addition, for trouble-free production of solids, various operations related to the handling of bulk products, such as conveying, metering and storage have to be taken into account.

Innovations in solids processing at A&D AS Solutions Process Industries:
The production of fine polymer powders – especially in the field of high performance polymers – can be improved by Mipoxo (Micronisation of Particles by Oxidation of surfaces)
Using Mipadis (Micronisation of Particles by Dispersion of melts), very fine products can be generated - even down to nanoscale particles. |
