Reaction calorimetry
In the chemical and pharmaceutical industries these days, processes have to operate safely with maximum selectivity. For investigations into process safety and the design of heating/cooling systems, reaction calorimetry is the preferred tool. In our mixing and reaction engineering group, we have several reaction calorimeters (model: Mettler RC-1) available, which can be used over a wide temperature and pressure range.

A considerable amount of information on the reaction and mixing process can be gathered just by looking through the wall of the glass reactor in the calorimeter.
Through the direct combination of reaction calorimetry and modern analytical methods, such as on-line FT infrared spectroscopy, on-line particle size determination, gas chromatography (GC) and high- pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC), we obtain a better understanding of the chemical and physical processes in the reactor. In this way, the kinetics of the process are investigated and, by optimizing the conditions for the reaction, maximum space-time yield is achieved in production.
Through the high flexibility of our automated laboratory reactors and excellent reproducibility of the results that we can achieve, we can quickly and reliably optimize processes for our customers. |
