| | Controlling all types of fault current | Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D) protects personnel and plant against possible DC fault currents with the new Siquence Type B universal-current-sensitive residual-current operated circuit-breaker.
In addition, the Type B has an integral RCBO (residual-current operated circuit-breaker with integral overcurrent protection) up to 125 amps that offers additional line protection. Machines in which DC fault currents can occur include frequency inverters with three-phase current connection, medical equipment, semiconductors with bridge circuit or photovoltaic systems.
Previously, conventional Type A residual-current operated circuit-breakers that do not provide protection against such fault currents were frequently used. With Siquence Type B, Siemens A&D thus improves safety for personnel and machinery. The protective circuit-breaker is also designed for AC and pulsating currents and for use in three-phase systems at 60 Hertz.
