07/2009 – Siemens, as a leading provider of RFID systems and solutions, employs auto-identification technologies in its own factories – to control manufacturing and logistics.
RFID controls assembly in the electrical industry

05/2009 – In recognition of its “Krypto” RFID chip, Siemens was named the winner of the award in the “Innovative Company” category at the International Trade Fair and Science Forum for Automatic Identification, EuroID 2009. In addition to protecting against product piracy, the chip can be directly integrated into the products or their packaging. The item’s genuineness is determined in a few tenths of a second by means of a cryptographic process that doesn’t require an online link. The chip can be used to provide security for goods of all kinds, and it should make life very difficult for counterfeiters in the future.
04/2009 – Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is the technology applied for unambiguous and contactless identification of all types of objects. In addition to RFID and Auto ID technology, this book presents applications from different areas of application which have now already been tried and tested. They demonstrate the approach, the process and the selection of RFID and Auto ID systems for various problems.
02/2009 – Siemens will be presenting its range for the automatic identification of goods and assets at CeBIT 2009 in Hanover, Germany. This range includes products and systems, solutions and services. Companies can save money by optimizing their production and logistics processes with radio frequency identification (RFID) and 1D/2D codes. One outstanding Siemens innovation is the counterfeit-proof RFID transponder for fast, automated identification of original products.

01/2009 – Siemens's Industry Automation Division has now redesigned its HF (high frequency) 13.56 megahertz range Simatic RF310R and RF380R RFID read/write devices so that they can also work with ISO 15693 standard transponders. Its ISO 15693 functionality makes the RF300 system also suitable for use in applications which only need simple types of transponders with little memory.
11/2008 – The Siemens Division Industry Automation is expanding its range of write/read devices in the UHF range with two compact RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) readers. Simatic RF620R is equipped with an integrated UHF antenna and up to two external UHF antennas can be connected to the Simatic RF630R. With Simatic RF communication modules, the devices can be integrated directly into Simatic S7 as well as Profinet/Profibus communication networks.
09/2008 – Rehau AG, a leading supplier of plastic components in the automotive industry has chosen an RFID solution from Siemens for the seamless tracking of bumpers
08/2008 – Hard times ahead for product pirates. Siemens has developed a forgery-proof wireless chip which enables all types of goods to be checked for authenticity.
04/2008 – One of the largest and most modern baggage handling systems in the world is running at full capacity in Beijing. The system installed by Siemens in the new Terminal 3 of Beijing's International Airport (PEK/ZBAA) can sort and transport up to 19,200 items of baggage per hour – using RFID components from Siemens
04/2008 – At the trade fair of the 17th German Material Flow Congress of the VDI Workgroup “Conveyor systems, material flow logistics” in Garching, German, the Industry Solutions division presents its integrated intralogistics solutions for industry. The portfolio ranges from the evaluation of existing logistics systems to plant modernization, optimization, expansion, conversion and modernization as well as maintenance and repair.
