SIMATIC Controller:
With strong PROFINET connections, too

The SIMATIC family of controllers offers CPUs with integrated PROFINET interfaces for the upper and middle performance ranges. The CPUs permit the connection of distributed IO and field devices via PROFINET. Via the additionally integrated PROFIBUS interface, field devices can also be connected as before – and the PROFINET interface is used for communication at cell level. The CPUs are also used for Component Based Automation, the concept for modular plant and machine construction with distributed intelligence.

A wide range of Simatic controllers communicates via high-speed IRT (Isochronous Realtime) Profinet. The CPU 319-3 PN/DP for the Simatic S7-300, the Profinet CPUs of the Simatic S7-400, a new Profinet CPU for the ET 200S distributed I/O system and the new Simatic S7-mEC embedded controller have IRT capability. IRT is also advantageous when automation data and a high volume of standard Ethernet data, for example via TCP/IP, have to be transferred within a network.

Decentralized Controllers – SIMATIC ET 200 Interfacemodule with CPU
To transfer intelligence into the periphery, SIMATIC ET 200 offers different systems with CPU functionality. These interface modules with integrated CPU can be used both in stand-alone mode and for distributed automation solutions with a medium sized program. As a solution with the protection degree IP20 the SIMATIC ET 200S offers the interface module IM 151-8 PN/DP. This conforms to a CPU 314 and enables the distributed on-site pre-processing of manufacturing data – also in fail-safe design. For cabinet-less solutions with protection degree IP 65/67 SIMATIC ET 200pro offers the interface module IM154-8 PN/DP. It is based on the CPU 315-2 PN/DP and offers the same quantitative framework and functions. The IM154-8 PN/DP CPU has two communication interfaces, a combined MPI/PROFIBUS DP interface and a PROFINET interface with three ports.
SIMATIC S7-300
For SIMATIC S7-300, the CPU 319-3 PN/DP and CPU 317-2 PN/DP are available for the upper performance range and the CPU 315-2 PN/DP for the mid-level performance range with integrated PROFINET interface. These CPUs have a combined PROFIBUS DP/MPI interface as well as an Industrial Ethernet/PROFINET interface. The central processing units can be operated on PROFINET as IO-Controllers for field devices. Furthermore, as a component of PROFINET CBA, data exchange with other CBA components can be implemented.
SIMATIC S7-400
For SIMATIC S7-400, the CPU 414-3 PN/DP and CPU 416-2 PN/DP are available for automation tasks in the upper performance range with integrated PROFINET interface. The new S7-400 CPUs make available for the first time two Ethernet ports, which enable a line structure in addition to the hierarchical structure. The three new CPUs offer an integrated Web server, which makes CPU diagnostics information accessible from any location via the integrated PROFINET interface.
Fail-safe controllers
In addition to standard tasks, the fail-safe controllers can be used for safety-directed automation tasks. Even here controllers are available for the upper performance range and for the mid-level performance range: CPU 315F-2 PN/DP, CPU 317F-2 PN/DP, CPU 319F-3 PN/DP and CPU 416F-3 PN/DP
Simatic Embedded Automation and PC-based Controller
The PROFINET concept implements realtime I/O and IT communication simultaneously and is thus ideally suited to utilize the openness of PC-based applications. Simatic WinAC RTX provides the full scope of S7 communication functions with S7 Controllers and other WinAC RTX stations via PROFIBUS and PROFINET I/O and CBA links. WinAC RTX can also be preinstalled on the new S7-mEC RTX, combining the advantages of the tried and tested modular S7 Controller and PC engineering in a single, rugged device.
