SINAMICS S120 DC/AC with PROFINET

DC/AC devices (Line and Motor Modules) – available in the Booksize and Chassis type of construction – are characterized by their modular design. The complete drive intelligence is grouped in a central control unit, the CU320. The control unit performs all closed-loop control functions in the drive group. Furthermore, it executes all additional drive functions and has with PROFIBUS DP or PROFINET (connection using CBE20) a central interface for connection to higher-level automation systems. The power module and encoders are coupled to the central control unit using DRIVE-CLiQ.

  CBE20 communication board

The CBE20 communication board permits the connection of the SINAMICS S120 drive system with the CU320 control unit to a PROFINET IO network.

Thus, in the PROFINET context, SINAMICS S120 is a PROFINET IO device and offers the following functions: :

  • 100 Mbit/s full-duplex
  • Support of the RT (real-time) and IRT (isochronous real-time) real-time classes of PROFINET IO
  • Connection to controllers in accordance with PROVIdrive based on the V4 specification
  • Standard TCP/IP communications for engineering with the STARTER software
  • o Integrated 4-port switch with four RJ45 sockets based on the PROFINET ASICs ERTEC400. This allows the construction of the optimum topology without requiring external switches.
