SIMOTION D - Drive-based

Compact and integrated in the drive

With SIMOTION D, the SIMOTION functionality is integrated directly in the control unit of the SINAMICS S120 drive system. This results in the total system, consisting of controller and drive, being very compact and especially fast to respond. SIMOTION D is supplied as a single-axis (SIMOTION D410) or multi-axis (SIMOTION D4x5) system in various power versions, which guarantees a very high degree of scalability and flexibility.

SIMOTION D has onboard as standard two PROFIBUS interfaces with PROFIdrive and two Industrial Ethernet interfaces. The CBE30 communication board is used for the connection to PROFINET.

A PROFIBUS and a PROFINET version can be selected for the SIMOTION D410.

CBE30 communication board
The CBE30 communication board for SIMOTION D425, D435, D445 permits the connection to a PROFINET IO network. Thus, in the PROFINET context, SIMOTION D is a PROFINET IO controller and offers comprehensive functions:
  • 100 Mbit/s full-duplex
  • Support of the PROFINET IO real-time classes: RT and IRT
  • Connection of distributed IO and drives (with PROFIdrive V4) as PROFINET IO devices
  • Support of standard Ethernet communications
  • Integrated four-port switch with four RJ45 sockets based on the PROFINET ASICs ERTEC400
  • This allows the construction of the optimum topology without requiring external switches.
