High-speed drive with high-efficiency damping oscillation elements
Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D) has added a high-speed version to its N-compact range of low voltage motors. Thanks to forced ventilation and special rotor design, the motor is suitable for the speed range up to 5000 rpm. The intelligent use of oscillation elements with excellent damping properties mechanically isolates the machine from the actual baseplate. This means that, despite the high motor speed, no additional structural provisions are necessary.

"HT-direct" high-performance torque motors reduce operating costs and increase availability
Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D) will be exhibiting a new series of high-performance torque motors for drive applications with high torques or low speeds of rotation. The motors from the HT-direct series are based on permanent-magnet technology. The HT-direct drives are characterized by their compactness, lower work and cost factors in installation and maintenance, reduced noise emissions and up to 3% greater efficiency compared to solutions with gears. Moreover, the low-maintenance design of the motors substantially increases availability.

Energy-efficient IEC low-voltage motors with aluminum housing
Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D) has developed a new range of IEC low-voltage motors with aluminum housing. The new motors of the 1LE1 series are offered in the efficiency classes EFF1 and EFF2. The energy-efficient EFF1 motors achieve their high efficiency through the use of copper rotors. The motors thus have an extremely compact design and are especially suitable for applications with pumps and fans.

Siemens A&D Large Drives Division under new management
Dr.-Ing. Jürgen Brandes (1961) has been head of the Large Drives Division of Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D) in Nuremberg since the beginning of the year. Dr. Brandes replaces the previous Division Head, Dr.-Ing. Ulrich Feldmann, who has retired.

Siemens establishes new joint venture in the field of low-voltage motors in China
Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D) and Jiangsu Beide Electrical Machinery Corporation signed a contract to establish a new joint venture, Siemens Standard Motor Ltd. (SSML) in Yangzhou, China. With about 1500 employees, SSML will focus on the development and manufacturing of a comprehensive range of small and medium size low-voltage motors. Based on the SSML product offering and the strong market presence of Siemens Ltd. China, Siemens plans to achieve a leading position in the medium price market segment in China. The joint-venture is subject to approval by the relevant authorities. The Chinese market for low-voltage motors has a volume of around EUR 700 million and a yearly growth rate of around five per cent.
