SIMATIC NET PN CBA OPC server

The PN CBA OPC server (PROFINET OPC server) is the PC application interface for communication over Industrial Ethernet with PROFINET CBA components. It provides standardized access for OPC-capable applications and Windows applications (e.g. Microsoft Office) to variables that are made available over the component interfaces of the PROFINET CBA components.

PROFINET CBA OPC servers are available for the following interfaces:

  • CP 1612 (PCI)
  • Integrated interfaces of the SIMATIC PG/PC
  •   Integration of the PN CBA OPC server into the SIMATIC NET OPC server      environment

The PN CBA OPC server is completely integrated into the SIMATIC NET OPC server environment.

Support of distributed automation solutions with PROFINET CBA

The user can access variables in the PROFINET CBA components via the OPC interface.

      Integrated engineering

Direct utilization of the variables and symbols defined with the PROFINET engineering tool SIMATIC iMap and STEP 7 ensures integrated configuring and programming.

Expandability of existing installations with PROFINET functionality

Parallel operation with other communication protocols, e.g. S7 communication over SOFTNET S7 and Industrial Ethernet, is possible. Thus existing installations can be expanded with PROFINET functionality.

      Standardized interface

Over the standardized OPC interface, C++, Visual Basic and .NET applications as well as basic OPC clients (such as Microsoft Office) can be part of the PROFINET concept from the very beginning.

Communication is handled easily over OPC Scout

Over the OPC Scout as OPC client with browser functionality, direct access to the variables of the PROFINET CBA components is possible without programming.
