SCALANCE X-300 managed plus Product Line:
The Compact High-Performance Switches

Thanks to its compact space-saving design SCALANCE X-300 is the cost-effective version for use in high-performance plant networks with connection to the enterprise network, designd for use in control cabinets. Thanks to the support of IT standards and Gigabit Ethernet, automation networks can be seamlessly integrated into existing office networks.

Extended functionality through managed plus
The SCALANCE X-300 managed plus product line combines the firmware functionality of the SCALANCE X-400 line (without routing functions on layer 3) with the compact design of the SCALANCE X-200 line. "managed plus" means both enhanced management functions compared with the SCALANCE X-200 and enhanced firmware functionality.
Integrated redundany manager for fast media redundancy
SCALANCE X-300 switches are used for the configuration of high-performance Gigabit Ethernet rings (Twisted Pair or Fiber Optic). A ring link via Gigabit Ethernet or the connection of Gigabit Ethernet terminals is also possible. The integrated redundancy manager (RM) continuously monitors the network function. Alternatively rings can be established with Fast Ethernet or the switches can be integrated in existing Fast Ethernet rings.
Integration in company networks
SCALANCE X-300 switches support the standardized redundancy procedure Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP). Thus an automation network can be integrated redundantly into a company network. Since SCALANCE X-300 switches support "virtual" networks, this permits the integration in "Security Policies" or the networks can be divided into segments.
Load limits for broadcasts and multicasts
When multicast-based protocols are used, e.g. for video transmission, SCALANCE X-300 switches learn by means of IGMP Snooping which station wants to receive the multicast message frames and when. The multicast message frames are only forwarded to the corresponding ports.
PROFINET IO functionality
As a PROFINET-IO device the SCALANCE X-300 can simply be integrated in the configuration and system diagnostics of STEP7. The integrated configuration and diagnostics integrated into SIMATIC STEP 7 provide significant benefits during the engineering, start-up and operating phases of a plant
Point-to-point connection over a distance of up to 100 m with FastConnect
The integrated retaining collars on the Fast Ethernet RJ45 ports ensure, together with the PROFINET-compatible IE FC RJ45 connectors, continuous and reliable data communication. Through the interaction between the retaining collar and the RJ45 plug, the RJ45 socket of the switch is relieved of tensile or bending stresses.
Service with minimized downtimes
The configuration data are automatically saved on a Configuration Plug (C-PLUG). If a device needs to be replaced, the C-PLUG is simply inserted in the replacement device. Without configuration, the replacement component starts up with the same device configuration.
Available in three versions
SCALANCE X310 is the switch with three Gigabit RJ45 ports and seven Fast Ethernet RJ45 ports. SCALANCE X308-2 is a switch with one Gigabit RJ45 port, seven Fast Ethernet RJ45 ports and two Glass Multimode FO ports with SC sockets. This switch is also available as a long-distance version with two Glass Singlemode FO ports with SC sockets: SCALANCE X308-2LD.
