SINEMA E (Lean and Standard)

SINEMA E (SIMATIC Network Manager Engineering) is a planning, simulation and configuration software that simplifies the task of installing and starting up a WLAN network with the help of simulation functions.

SINEMA E visualizes the signal coverage, data transmission rate, signal-to-noise ratio and access point overlapping of a wireless LAN network taking into account the environmental conditions and device parameters. Planning and installation of the WLAN network is made easy by using both integrated and user-specific catalog entries for WLAN devices, antennas and radio wave obstacles as well as standard graphical formats for importing floor plans. An integrated consistency check establishes the validity of the configuration and reduces the possibility of errors even before the network has been installed. The report function makes it easy to create offers, provide mounting instructions for installation personnel and document the system for acceptance testing and troubleshooting.

The functional scope of the software is subdivided into two different licenses, "Lean" and "Standard". Compared to the Lean license, the standard license offers additional functions for recording, evaluating and visualizing the measured WLAN signals (site survey) as well as extended simulation and planning features (auto placement, contour display, saving/comparing simulations and extended filtering options).

Planning, configuration and simulation functions
  • Modeling the environment
The environment (industrial and office environment as well as the outdoor area) can be modelled with the help of various tools provided in a catalog (e.g. walls, doors, machines, high-bay warehouses). In addition, user-specific obstacles can be measured and added to the standard catalog.
  • Modeling the WLAN network
The integrated catalog contains all SIMATIC NET WLAN devices (including the antennas) - it can also be expanded with any IEEE 802.11.a,b,g devices and antennas. Offline configuration is possible for SIMATIC NET WLAN devices either individually or for several devices combined in profile groups.
  • Visualization of the WLAN signal quality, e.g. data transmission rate, roaming and the effect of active and passive sources of interference on performance
  • SINEMA E Standard:
Extended simulation and planing (auto placement, contour display, saving/comparing simulations, extended filtering options)
Online configuration and measurement
  • Automatic recognition and address assignment
At the press of a key during initial startup, SINEMA E identifies all SIMATIC NET nodes which can be accessed online, and transmits all basic parameters of these devices, such as IP addresses for initial commissioning. Any additional SIMATIC NET devices that were not included in the planning can be recognized and their configuration data can be added to the project.
  • Central downloading/uploading Both at initial startup and in the case of later adaptations, previously defined parameters can be transferred automatically to all devices, or received by these devices, from a central location.
  • SINEMA E Standard:
Measurements (site survey) of a WLAN network
    • For clarification of an existing WLAN network before planning begins
    • For troubleshooting in the case of maintenance and servicing
  • SINEMA E Standard:
Analysis and optimization of a WLAN network
    • Analysis and optimization of planning through measurements
Integral report functions
  • Drafting of bids (sales wizard)
  • Equipment mounting instructions (for installation personnel)
  • Documentation for acceptance, troubleshooting and expansion
  • SINEMA E Standard: Documentation of measured results
