With this WinCC Premium AddOn you can configure a diagnostic environment
that provides detailed information about the connected PROFIBUS DP and
PROFINET IO devices and the S7 400 CPU / H-CPU during runtime of your
operator station. The AddOns consist of standard elements of SIMATIC
software and can be implemented retrospectively in any SIMATIC PCS 7 or
STEP 7/WinCC project. If you are familiar with SIMATIC PCS 7 or STEP 7/
WinCC, as the case may be, then you do not require any additional know-how
for the configuration.

Benefits and technical highlights
- Diagnostics buffer to store any error messages
that have occurred
- No need for additional engineering tools
- Engineering in a few simple steps
- Simple updating of changes in the hardware configuration online
anytime in WinCC
- Fast and reliable availability of all relevant information about the
configured Profibus slaves / Profinet devices
- The diagnosis is carried out during runtime, independently of any
engineering tools
- Visualization of all Profibus slaves / Profinet IO devices supported
by Step 7
- Diagnostic repeaters and slaves connected downstream of the
diagnostic repeaters can be diagnosed (Profibus DP/PA Slave Diagnostics)
Functionality
Functions of the PROFIBUS DP/PA Slave Diagnostics
The ActiveX control visualizes the in STEP 7 configured Profibus DP
master system with all DP slaves in an overview picture. The current
operating statuses of the PROFIBUS slaves are displayed in this
faceplate, and any fault states can be evaluated. This works with both:
redundant and non-redundant Profibus master systems.
The Profibus Master can be either a SIMATIC standard automation system
(S7-400/S7-300) or the highly available S7-400 H. The add-on comprises
max. 5 STEP 7 blocks and one ActiveX control. The Step7 blocks acquire
the information of the configured master system and send the data to the
operator station.
The detailed views provide you with all necessary information. These
include:
- Overview about the connected PROFIBUS PA master systems
- Overview about the devices connected at a Y-Link
- Detailled diagnostics informationen for DP slaves: e.g. Device
status, detailed diagnostics, channel diagnostics, MLFB number,
station address, slot, module type, etc.
In the case of redundant slaves, a faulty communication link is also
indicated. The detail view provides information on the redundancy of the
modules in addition to the information listed above.
Functions of the PROFINET IO Device Diagnostics
The functionality of the PROFINET IO Device Diagnostics is very similar
to the Profibus DP/PA Slave Diagnostics. All in STEP 7 configured
Profinet IO devices are visualized in an overview picture. The current
operating statuses of the configured devices are shown and any error
statuses which may have occurred can be evaluated in the overview
display.
The add-on comprises max. 3 STEP 7 blocks and one ActiveX control. The
Step7 blocks acquire the information of the configured master system and
send the data to the operator station.
The detailed views provide you with all the necessary information. These
include:
- Detailed diagnostics information for the PROFINET IO / Failsafe
devices e.g. Device status, detailed diagnostics, channel diagnostics,
MLFB number station address, slot, module type, etc.
- Diagnostics information of Scalances
- Overview of the Profinet devices connected via a WLAN link
(including the actual device status)
- Overview of the Profibus slave connected via an IE/PB link
(including the actual device status)
Functions of the S7-400 CPU Diagnostics
As central components of I&C, the CPUs and H-CPUs are especially
important. Our ActiveX control permits diagnostics of the most important
CPU properties within any operator station. Scope: S7-400 and S7-400H.
