Options to increase system availability

PC-based automation solutions depend on the reliability and availability of the sub-systems employed. Especially the shifting of important functionalities to intelligent devices in the field requires a level of availability that can cope with the potential damage caused by a device failure SIMATIC Panel PCs come standard with a high level of ruggedness and reliability thanks to their industrial architecture. With two new hardware options and two software packages SIMATIC HMI offers a comprehensive concept for increasing the system availability of their Panel PC 677B.

  • Hardware options:
    Dual  hard disk

Equipped with two identical hard drives, while maintaining the same installation dimensions, the PC 677B offer a convenient solution for quickly backing up and restoring all data on the PC
    RAID 1 Configuration
An internal RAID controller and a mirror drive ensure that all data of the productive hard drive is retained automatically and without a delay on the mirror drive. In the case of a failure of the productive hard drive, the mirror drive assumes the function of the “work” drive
  • Diagnostics tool : SIMATIC PC DiagMonitor
The monitoring and remote signaling software SIMATIC PC DiagMonitor detects possible faults in the hardware and software early.
  • Hard disk tool: SIMATIC PC/PG Image & Partition Creator
The SIMATIC PC/PG Image Creator software tool is used for easy back-up and fast restoring of complete contents of a hard disk and individual partitions (images).
