Innovative HMI Functionality
With their comprehensive HMI functionality, the SIMATIC Panels and Multi
Panels make possible innovative control concepts for demanding machine
visualizations:
- Alarm system with alarm history
- Linear conversion of process values
- Limit value monitoring with variable limit valuesSupport of floating
point format
- Recipe system: create, save and modify data records on the operator
device and transfer to and from the PLC
- Password protection against unauthorized inputs
- Printer connection for reporting purposes
- DP direct keys for time-critical operating processes with very short
reaction times (<100 ms). If buttons of Panels or Multi Panels are
configured as DP direct keys, they are transmitted via PROFIBUS-DP to the
SIMATIC S7 as I/O periphery.
- Online language switch at the touch of a button (up to 5 online
languages) for worldwide application - also Asian and Cyrillic device
languages
Panels of Series 70 and 170 and panels and Multi Panels of Series 270 and 370 add:
- Convenient recipe and password handling, alarm system and report system
- Graphical displays bar graph display, standard Windows
fonts, dynamic positioning of screen objects dependent on tags.
- Graphical selection field:
the operator selects from a list of symbols. A project can then - as much
possible - be designed language-neutral.

Panels and Multi Panels of Series270/370 add:
- 256-Color support
- Slide control, analog output, digital/analog clock
- Archiving of process values and alarms
- Trend graphics with paging and zoom functions as well as a leading line
for trend analyses (archive trends)

- Process error diagnostics with the help of the
ProAgent
option
- Innovative HMI- and automation concepts
By employing the option
WinCC
flexble Sm@art Access operator stations gain access to each others
tags. Based on TCP/IP communication this results in innovative solutions:
- Local operator stations with plant-wide access to variables,
e.g. networking stand-alone production cells
- Distributed operator stations for operating large, physically
distributed machines
- Local control room solutions with options for central archiving,
analysis and further-processing of process data
- Link to the Office world
Multi Panels add:
-
Additional software options such as Soft-PLC or Pocket Internet Explorer can
be installed

Flexible through
Standard Interfaces
Based on the operating system Windows CE, the graphics-capable operator
devices enable innovative HMI solutions combined with ruggedness, stability
and simplicity. Greater flexibility, openness and access to the office world
are provided by standard hardware and software interfaces.
- MMC-Card slot (only OP77B)
can be used for recipes and for backup of configuration- and system data
- CF card slot
- makes possible the exchange of data through standard memory cards
- for backup/restore functions (backing up of the configuration and
system data)

- Standard Windows storage format (CSV) for archives and recipes
allows further processing of the data on a PC using standard tools (e.g.
Excel)
- Customer-specific ActiveX Controls make possible individual, more
complex industry- or technology-specific function expansions
|
|
Panels and Multi Panels of Series 270/370 add:
- Standard network cards (e.g. Ethernet) can be plugged into the CF
card slot
- Ethernet (TCP/IP) for the exchange of data with higher-level
computers and centralized data/project management such as:
- Storage of recipes and archives via Ethernet (TCP/IP) on a central
PC
- Download/upload of configuration and firmware
- Access to network printers

- Integrated USB port for hot-plugging peripheral devices such as
printer, keyboard, mouse, barcode reader
- Visual Basic scriptsfor functional expansions in ProTool allowing -
for example - logical connections, loops, decisions, etc. to be executed
outside of the PLC

Multi Panels add:
- PC card slot
for memory expansions, backup/restore or additional
connectivity, e.g. modem
- Integrated Ethernet port
- Additional software options such as Soft-PLC or Pocket Internet
Explorer can be installed

Service and Commissioning Support
Using the simulation program of ProTool, the project can be tested in
advance on the configuration computer without a connected PLC or operator
device.
There are several options available for downloading - and in the case of the
graphics-capable devices also for uploading - the configuration and firmware:
- Directly via the serial interface or USB port (with master-to-master
cable)
- Remotely from a central PC via an MPI or PROFIBUS-DP network or Ethernet
- For longer distances, via modem line (analog/ISDN)
Device Swap made easy via PC/CF Card
The entire internal flash memory with application, recipes and passwords
can be backed up via a PC or CF card (backup/restore). When swapping operator
devices, simply plug the memory card into the new device and it is ready for
immediate use.
Independent Service Tool
The service tool ProSave is available to all Panels and Multi Panels of
the series170/270/370 . This tool runs under Windows - either independently or
integrated into configuration software. The user interface of ProSave supports
language switching of up to 9 languages including Asian and Kyrillic
languages. With it, the entire internal flash memory with
application, recipes and passwords can be backed up onto a PC
(backup/restore). Specific drivers can also be loaded.
The connection is established via USB, MPI, PROFIBUS-DP, Ethernet (TCP/IP) or
RS 232 (serially).
In connection with CE-based devices you can use ProSave also for updating the
operator system, installing options and transferring licenses.
Status/Control Tag
With the status/control tag, operator devices (Text Panels as well as the
Panels and Multi Panels of the 270/370 series) can directly access (in
read/write mode) the values of the connected PLC (SIMATIC S5 and SIMATIC S7).
Control operands can thus be monitored and changed without having to connect
an additional programming device or PC to the PLC
Panels and Multi Panels of Series 270/370 in
connection with WinCC flexible add:
Service and diagnostics via Internet
By employing the option WinCC
flexible/Sm@rt Service new service concepts become available:
- Selective, event-driven reporting of errors via e-mail and text
messages
- Diagnosing operator stations using ready-made diagnostic functions
- Service and maintenance functions (downloading projects,
downloading/uploading recipes)
- Remote control of an on-site station across the Internet with the help
of Microsoft's Internet Explorer
