Products & Solutions Component Based Automation is the new TIA concept for applications with distributed intelligence. It supports consistent modularization by means of component technology in machine and plant construction. This means that extraordinary increases in productivity can be achieved during engineering and commissioning. Component Based Automation is Based on the PROFINET standard defined by the PROFIBUS User Organization. A new engineering tool permits the plant-wide graphical merging of distributed applications and is an integral part of the SIMATIC software landscape. The laborious programming out of communication relationships between intelligent devices is replaced by graphical configuration. The new Siemens products for Component Based Automation have been tested in the field in selected projects for one year and are available since July 2002.
