Opening of the Technology and Application Center with picture gallery

On the 13th of June, the new Technology and Application Center (TAC) in Erlangen was officially presented to the trade public. Visitors were able to see the new equipment to demonstrate and train machinery construction OEMs and users in technical presentations and guided tours. Sandra Kiriasis – the top bobsled athlete gave the event the event that added something.

This Center is the new figurehead for the Motion Control group of Siemens: A new Application Center with extending over approx. 7000 square meters with a single purpose - to support users of machine tools and other production machines.

In addition to two training rooms, which are fully equipped with SINUMERIK® training software Sinutrain and current SINUMERIK® control systems, there is also a machine hall with six machine locations.

Group of machines equipped with state-of-the-art SINUMERIK® technology

For the start, four state-of-the-art machine tools are installed here - two milling machines and two lathes - that are either equipped with SINUMERIK® 840D sl or 802D sl. These machines are used for technology development, demonstration and training for machinery construction OEMs and end users. From simple machining up to mould building, all of the interesting SINUMERIK® applications in the workshop area can be directly demonstrated at these machines. Automation solutions are tested and further developed together with customers. Further, these machines are also to be used to train operators. However, not only should CNC experts feel at home here. In the future, the TAC will offer a platform for many questions and issues relating to cutting technology (tools, clamping equipment, CAD/CAM and many more) - i.e. technology partners will also find a communications platform here.
