Modem MD720-3

Universally applicable modem for data transmission over the GSM mobile radio network The MD720-3 features an RS232 interface and supports the GSM services CSD, SMS and GPRS. This modem is used, for example, within the SINAUT MICRO and SINAUT ST7 systems as well as GSM modem for teleservice adapters.

  • Use with SINAUT MICRO
In standard mode, data transfer from the S7-200 station to the control center is implemented by means of GPRS. However, the station can interrupt the GPRS connection for the transmission of text messages. If a remote maintenance connection with the station is established, it can temporarily switch the modem from GPRS to CSD and accept the incoming call.

  • Use with SINAUT ST7
Data transmission is implemented by means of CSD. Transmission of text messages is also possible. The receipt of the text messages can be acknowledged from the mobile phone. An SMS message can also be output as e-mail, fax or voice mail if the SMS provider offers these options.

  • Use with TS Adapter II
Data transmission by means of CSD as well as sending of text messages.
Suitable for use anywhere in the world
The MD720-3 is a quadband modem and therefore covers all GSM frequencies used worldwide (see list of authorized countries!).
Mobile applications
In addition to stationary stations, mobile stations can also be connected to a central operator control and monitoring system with the MD720-3, e.g. railway and road vehicles as well as coastal vessels and inland navigation vessels.
Further advantages of GPRS in conjunction with SINAUT MICRO:
Permanent connection
GPRS permits that machines or plants are permanently connected to the control center.
Safe data exchange
Data transmission is encrypted and possible in both directions. Special contracts with mobile radio providers for closed Virtual Private Networks can be omitted. This reduces operating expenses considerably.
Low operating costs
The optimized MICRO communication with effective message frame generation as well as time and event-driven transmission maintain the data volume low and thus make it possible to utilize low-cost GPRS volume tariffs.
