The connection of SIMATIC S7-300 programmable controllers via communications processors permits the direct integration of the controllers into Industrial Ethernet.

In addition to the functionality of the CP 343-1, the CP 343-1 Advanced offers with the e-mail functions, http-based diagnostics and user-created web pages and thus optimally supports maintenance and quality assurance. The Internet functions, such as the FTP Client or JAVA, even permit the direct connection to the ERP level without the need for additional gateways.
Because of the two separate interfaces the CP is qualified for network seperation between Control- and Field-Level for e.g. better performance.
Therefore, for the S7-300, this CP is the bridge between the field level over PROFINET and the MES level.
