Until now an Ethernet connection has been a special feature of SIMATIC controllers from the medium and upper performance range. The SIMATIC NET CP 243-1 permits the connection of the S7-200 controllers to an Ethernet network. This is the first fully integrated Ethernet connection for mini PLCs.

With the CP243-1, a SIMATIC S7-200 with STEP 7-Micro/WIN can be configured, programmed and diagnosed remotely over Industrial Ethernet.
An S7-200 programmable controller with CP 243-1 can exchange data with other S7 programmable controllers over Ethernet.
PC applications can access the data of an S7-200 via S7-OPC. In this way, process data can be easily archived or further processed.
