Description

The use of worldwide available, public mobile communication networks is the low-cost
alternative to creating your own radio network (e.g.industrial wireless LAN). It is also there when no other transfer medium (e.g. dedicated line/ telephone network) is available. Prerequisite is a received signal that is strong enough at the place of operation.

Details

With UMTS- (3G) and GSM-/GPRS modules, both fixed-location stations and mobile participants, e.g. rail and road vehicles, as well as ships in inland and coastal waters can be connected to a central monitoring and control plant. With the new industrial products for broadband internet technology it is now possible to transfer mass data or images. Thus UMTS is the most suitable for video surveillance in real time.

The following services in the UMTS network are supported by the UMTS router:

SMS (Short Message Service)
HSDPA (Data rates in the downlink of up to 14.4 Mbit (depending on the provider))
HSUPA (Transfer speed in the uplink of up to 5.76 MBit)

The following services in the GSM network are supported by the GMS modems/router:

GPRS (General Packet Radio Service)
SMS (Short Message Service)
CSD (Circuit Switched Data)

Benefits

Modern mobile telecommunication networks, such as UMTS and GSM with GPRS, enable the low-cost, continuous connection of machines and plants to the central location.
The GMS/UMTS modules permit a safe transfer of the data by data encryption and/or firewall.
Optionally the devices permit the creation of VPN tunnels (Virtual Private Network).
Low-cost volume tariffs ensure low transfer costs.
Thanks to high bandwidth UMTS mobile telecommunication is suitable for transferring large quantities of data, e.g. video streams.

Some modules are also available in SIPLUS extreme version for extreme applications and environmental conditions.
