Selectivity

What does "selectivity interval" mean in SIMARIS design?

In SIMARIS design, the selectivity interval is the minimum interval between the rated current of the downstream and the upstream connected device. Possible input values for the selectivity interval are between 1 and 3.

Example
Condition: The dimensioning target is selectivity and the selectivity interval is 1.55. Downstream there is a fuse with a current rating of In = 100A. SIMARIS design dimensions an upstream connected protective device with a minimum of 155A, although such a high rated current might not be needed.

Which meaning does the different colour coding of devices have in the handling of the selectivity evaluation in SIMARIS design professional?

Selectivity evaluation is only available in SIMARIS design professional.

If selectivity evaluation is enabled by clicking the corresponding icon on the tool bar above the network diagram, all switching devices on the network diagram will be highlighted by a green, yellow, or grey colour field.

green: item is fully selective
yellow: item is partially selective
grey: item cannot be evaluated

This can be interpreted as follows:

The behaviour of device combinations regarding selectivity can only be established by testing. For those combinations marked as fully or partially selective, appropriate testing is available, but not for the items marked in grey.
