The ET 200S is used for distributed expansion of the safety S7 controllers. An ET 200S station can hold both safety and standard input and output modules. 
Different PROFIsafe digital I/O and one PROFIsafe relay module are available for connecting digital sensors/encoders and/or loads/actuators.

Power modules are used for monitoring and short-circuit protection of the load and encoder supply voltages. These are fed in over the TM-P terminal modules to the self-assembling voltage buses.
