Drive Communication via SIMOLINK
Motion Control with SIMOLINK
The SIMOLINK drive communication ensures that setpoint values are quickly distributed between a master and the slave drives.
An fiber-optic cable made of plastic material or glass is used as a transmission medium for SIMOLINK. The fiber-optic cable interconnects the bus nodes by way of a closed ring.
Outstanding features of SIMOLINK are:
- Extremely high netto data-transfer rate
- Jitter-free synchronization (quartz-precise)
- High number of nodes (200 slaves, one master)
- Long distance (e.g. 1000m long ring with plastic fiber-optic cable)
- Possibility of connection of a "SIMOLINK monitor" for clock synchronized diagnosis of the drive systems
The configuration of the nodes can be modified by means of a switch (SIMOLINK switch). If required, nodes can also be assigned to various fiber-optic cable rings or two independent rings can be combined to one ring in case of a fault.
