SINUMERIK Safety Integrated
SINUMERIK Safety Integrated is a comprehensive safety package for the protection of operators and machines. Thanks to the consistent integration of safety functions into the control and drive technology, this package is particularly efficient and cost-effective. Moreover, your machine can be operated safely and conveniently under all required operating conditions, e.g. in setup or test mode while the protective door is open. The safety functions are certified by the trade association and meet the requirements of Safety Class 3 according to EN 954-1.
Included in the function scope are the following, e.g.:
- Functions to safely stop drives
- Functions to safely monitor motion
The type test was carried-out by the Berufsgenossenschaftliche Institut für Arbeitssicherheit (BIA) [Germany regulatory body] and by the TÜV [German Technical Inspectorate].

Functions
The safety functions are available in all modes and can communicate with the process via safety-related input/output signals.
They can be realized for each individual axis and spindle:
- Safe stopping process
Safely transfers the drives from motion to standstill as soon as a monitoring function or a sensor (e.g. a light barrier) responds.
- Safe operation stop (SBH)
This safety function monitors the drives for standstill. The drives are fully functional in the bearing.
- Safe standstill (SH)
Pulse suppression of the drives and safe, electronic interruption of power supply
- Safely reduced speed (SG)
Monitoring of configurable speed limits, e.g. upon setup without pressing an enable key.
- Safe software limit switches (SE)
Variable traversing range limits
- Safe software cams (SN)
Area recognition
- Safety-relevant input/output signals (SGE/SGA)
Process interface
- Safe programmable logic (SPL)
Direct connection of all safety-relevant signals and their internal logic combination.
- Safe brake management (SBM)
Two-channel brake control and cyclic brake test
- Safety-relevant communication via standard bus
Connection of distributed I/Os for process and safety signals via PROFIBUS with PROFIsafe
- Integrated acceptance test
Partially automated acceptance test for all safety-relevant functions. Convenient operation of the test sequence, automatic configuration of trace functions and automatic generation of the acceptance certificate
