The required high precision, dynamics and flexibility in this sequence of motions is provided by the Motion Control System Simotion. Electronic cams have been implemented to enable the combined rotary and feed motion of the lever arm when conveying the cartons using two servo motors. An additional, a virtual axis synchronized to the conveyor belt and a virtual encoder are installed to reference the belts and to ensure precise positioning of the adhesive tracks pasted via electronic cam output at throughput speeds of 90 mpm and with an accuracy of ± 1 mm.
