The SIMOTION functionality is achieved with the technology packages, the function libraries and the multi-layer architecture of the runtime system:

• Through various functionality levels
• Through software modules and technology packages with comprehensive functionality

• Through the integrated, freely programmable PLC according to IEC 61131-3
• Through freely instantiatable technology packages with comprehensive command set
• Through the capability to operate servo, vector, stepper and hydraulic drives
• Through the capability to combine the various technology packages and function libraries

• With standard functions of the function libraries

The technology packages

Each of these packages provides the complete functionality for the technology. For example, the Motion Control technology package provides all the functions for a precise positioning motion through to camming, the cyclic setpoint and actual value exchange with the drive, the position control, the calculation of the motion profile, the replacement or superimposition of motions, homing functions, encoder switchover, axis enables, status information, etc. In addition to the Motion Control technology package (including positioning, synchronous operation, cam), there are also packages for further technologies, such as temperature control.
