Retrofitting Press Safety Controls
While the mechanical systems of mechanical and hydraulic presses as well as press lines can have an average lifetime of several decades, the control and drive technology is subject to significantly shorter innovation cycles. Further, in the area of safety technology, the time intervals between replacing parts and components that are subject to wear are quite short. The contactor control systems used up until now were replaced every two years as a preventive measure. Here, electronic solutions that are free of wearing parts are used.
SIMATIC S7 F is the basis for press safety functions. A CPU from the SIMATIC S7-300-F/400-F family is used as the basis. For small distributed controllers even the CPU from the ET200S-F family can be used. Depending on the exact scope of I/O etc. and response times you can select different CPUs and therefore configure flexible topologies.
With our certified press safety modules you can enjoy the following benefits
- Time and money reduced for machine type testing using already certified standard components
- Standard & safety-related communication using just one PROFIBUS or PROFINET network
- Flexibility when implementing the safety system with central and distributed safety concepts
The library of certified press safety functions is suitable for the automation of mechanical and hydraulic presses and certified according to EN954-1 Cat. 4 and EN61508 SIL3, utilizing the following Standards specific for presses:
- EN692 "Mechanical presses - safety"
- EN693 "Machine tool safety - hydraulic presses"
- EN12622 "Safety of machine tools - hydraulic die-bending presses"
- EN13736 "Safety of machine tools - pneumatic presses"
