Sample solution for mechanical universal presses

Mechanical universal presses are characterized by their high flexibility; they can be used for both cutting and forming tasks. Combined with single tools, progressive cutting tools and compound dies, small to mid-sized parts can be produced.

A Siemens solution provides the following features:

  • Compactness
thanks to the integrated system concept and reduction of interfaces
  • Cost saving
thanks to the reduction of the engineering and commissioning effort
  • Open application solution
thanks to the ready-to-use technological functions.

SIMOTION SimoPress functionality

The SIMOTION SimoPress technology application simplifies the integration of the execution (logic), motion and technology functions. For this purpose, we provide you with predefined, fully documented and pretested press functions for the main drive control, cam controller, tool protection and press force monitoring. To reduce your engineering effort, we provide predefined operator dialogs for ProTool/Pro and WinCC flexible. For you, this means:

  • Main drive controller, with specification of the stroke rate and ramp startup.
  • Positioning of the main drive for stroke height adjustment or tool replacement.
  • Cam controller with dynamic braking angle calculation for OT stop.
  • Path-path and path-time output cams with and without dynamic displacement.
  • Process monitoring, such as tool protection and press force monitoring.
  • Static and dynamic position/feed control and frame counter.
  • Administration of tool and machine data.
  • Operating mode selection.
  • Fully documented pretested sample project.
