Expanding the NC kernel

The integration of special technological features into SINUMERIK 840D is so easy: The standard system in the NC kernel is enhanced by specific applications, that are known as compile cycles and have been developed in the object-oriented language C++. OPI™ (OEM Programmer's Interface), that also provides the link to the system data, is used as the interface here.

Special exit points - known as events - exist at defined locations in the software system of the NC kernel. As a user of the NC openness, you can hook in your own software here. All necessary data items of the standard system can be attained via access methods (bindings) provided which, in turn, guarantee full compatibility with all future software versions.
