PROFINET
PROFINET, the open and innovative Industrial Ethernet standard, enables integrated company-wide
communication. PROFINET is used for direct connection of distributed field devices to Industrial
Ethernet and to solve isochronous motion control applications. PROFINET enables distributed
automation with the aid of component technology, vertical integration and the solving of
fail-safe applications.
Thanks to the acceptance of the PROFIBUS device model, the same diagnostic information is available on the PROFINET.
Aside from device diagnostics, it is also possible to read out module-specific and channel-specific data from the devices,
making fast, easy fault localization possible.
