Motor / Generator

The ELFA drive motor of the type 1PV513... is a water-cooled four-pole induction motor. Based on its modular housing design the motor is available in different lengths and therefore suitable for different requirements. Due to the modularity it can be fitted to a summation gear box or to an axle solution of ArvinMeritor. Motors are available up to 85 kW rated power. Therefore all requirements regarding torque and power can easily be fulfilled for the different bus sizes. The housing is a modular design same components are used for most parts. The housing is cut out of an extruded aluminum profile according to the required length. This results in low production costs for the different motors while guaranteeing high quality at the same time. Based on the induction motor design an auxiliary motor with two shaft ends is available too.

The ELFA generators with a rated power of up to 150 kW of the type 1FV513... are water-cooled six-pole permanent magnet synchronous machines that are connected with a coupling or a step up gear box to the internal combustion engine. The design of the housing is identical to that of the drive motors. The ELFA generator provides a high power density of approx. 1.4 kW / kg and can be operated by means of the DUO inverters in both torque directions. This is used for the automatic start-stop function of the internal combustion engine in hybrid vehicles.

Windings with a different number of turns are possible and can be optimized according to the system configuration in order to improve the performance even further. Different shaft end designs ease the mechanical adaptation.
