Traction motors

Traction converters
Modern line compatible and economical frequency converters, based on GTO- and IGBT power semiconductor technology, supply the energy to the traction motors on demand. Within the drive system they allow multiple control functions for comfortable and reliable operation.
 

Control systems
Developed and introduced in 1983 SIBAS represents a system for the automation of most control functions in a rail vehicle and is the first fully digital traction drive control for railway applications. Since 2000 the second generation of powerful signal processor handle the extensive real time calculations for the converter related control. This actually provides essential functional improvements i.e. field oriented control, optimized pulse pattern selection or slip- and slide protection.
