Multilingualism of Engineering Software

The Engineering Software is actually available in the European languages English, French, Spanish, Italian and German and an ASIAN version supporting Chinese simplified, Chinese traditional, Korean and Japanese.

When using the European version you can switch between English, French, Spanish, Italian and German any time you want. The configuration interface of the Asian versions can be switched between the installed Asian national language and English.

Engineering of multilingual projects

WinCC flexible also supports you in an optimum way when creating multilingual configurations in up to 32 languages (16 of which can be switched online, depending on the target device) for worldwide deployment. Switchable views allow operators to enter configuration data on a multilingual basis.
You can manage language-dependent texts and graphics in a central text library that carries out automatic translation on the basis of the system- and user-specific dictionaries.
The system dictionary included in delivery can be complemented by user-specific dictionaries which contain terms used for several times within a configuration.

Using an import and export interface in Excel format, you can now further-process any texts from the project you like in Unicode format using external tools, e.g. for service providers to translate the texts into another language.
The WinCC-Add-on

DCC TranslationEditor which is available in a version for WinCC flexible too may provide valuable help.
This is particularly interesting if you are a machine tool builder with worldwide operations and you want to translate your WinCC flexible project to Asian pictogram languages (Chinese, Taiwanese, Korean, and Japanese).

Multilingulism of the Runtime Application

You can configure texts and graphics on a language-dependent basis. In this connection, the project can include up to 16 online languages (including Asian and Cyrillic texts). You can then switch between these languages at runtime.
This means that different operators can choose the optimum language setting for their own needs. And if the supplier of a machine or plant is responsible for servicing and maintenance abroad, the service personnel can if necessary switch on-site from an Asian language to English, for example, if you have configured this feature.
