Alongside the VW Golf, the Volkswagen factory in Vorst in Belgium
has recently started manufacturing the new SEAT S5 Toledo. This meant that
among other things the paint shop in Vorst had to have a further vehicle
drying oven added. A good opportunity for the Belgians also to renew the
human-machine interface (HMI). The choice fell on SIMATIC WinCC. Using
variable speed drives of the Masterdrives type from Siemens also made it possible to considerably reduce the energy
requirements of paint spraying machines.
