SIMATIC Multi Panel visualizes a plant for core-removal of engine cylinders

An automobile manufacturer's core-removal plant has to remove from around one
million cylinder heads every year all the burrs, core and moulding sand
residue left over from the foundry production process.
When extending and diversifying the plant, the latest automation technology
was used. Kührer Elektrosysteme GmbH of Bennigen, Germany, a Siemens
Automation Solution Provider configured and implemented the automation
technology components in the plant.

The system uses MP 370 Multipanels for monitoring of and operator inputs to
all the processing stages at a number of operator stations of the complex
core-removal process; this also includes the handling technology.
