Touch Panel as Human Machine Interface at a Linear Labeler

Linearity of a special kind was demonstrated by the engineers of the ELS
European Labeling Systems GmbH - located in Werther, Westphalia - during
the development of a new linear labeler for demanding tasks in the cosmetics,
chemical and pharmaceutical sectors: Like on all other operator stations of
their labeling machines, they carried out the configuration of the TP 170B in
C++. The open platform program of SIMATIC HMI with its software development
kit (MP SDK) enabled the developers to not only transfer the in-house
operating philosophy to the Touch Panel, but also to continue the use of
proven configurations and development tools.

The SDK provides access to the embedded operating system Windows CE of the TP
170B and also offers a number of easy-to-use tools. In this way, ELS profits
from the worldwide acceptance of SIMATIC Panels, without having to leave their
familiar programming environment.
