Since 1963 CIMI S.P.A located in Cerreto
Castello near Biella at the heart of the Italian textile industry builds
machines for refining textiles and is a world leader for woolen and
mixed fabrics. The innovative urge of the Italian machine manufacturer and the
availability of new technologies from Siemens led to them testing
new HMI solutions together.
Simatic WinCC flexible was used for configuration of a Simatic MP
370 Multi Panel on a machine (Multifix) for fixing through fibers.

In this process, known technically as "crabbing”, the fabric first passes through one or more vats,
where it is saturated by means of pressurized nozzles. In the following water pocket pipe the
fabric is saturated with a chemical and then chemically treated with saturated steam in a vat.
The extremely high demands on flexibility, short retooling times and simple operation are met optimally with the innovative HMI solution for the Panel and PC-based
close-to-machine HMI under Windows 2000 or XP.
