"Amazing maze" -
Finding the right conveyor route at a fertilizer factory of BASF
|
 |
|
|
In a BASF fertilizer factory, more than 300 conveyor belts with over 50 gates and switching points connect the production area with
far-flung silos and, in turn, connect the silos with loading facilities. The dimensions of the overall plant would cover several football fields.
The logistical challenge presented by this is how to always find the best of over 500 possible routes covering several kilometers.

Simatic
WinCC is equal to the challenge. The open and flexible human machine interface system finds the optimum combination of routes and
manages these centrally. Specialized assistance is offered by VIT Pathfinder,
a route planning system developed by Modern Systems
Automation located in Speyer.
