Hello Tony,

Please confirm the version of installed package and under what kind of platform (Windows) do you work? Do you have another Siemens software packages installed too?

Best regards,

Hi.
My platform is win XP up to date, before I installed 2010 prof SP2, I had 2010 SP1.
For info: I had just installed Step 7 Prof Upgrade 11.
I have attached my installed software.

Please, attach here a readme file of STEP 7 Professional  2010 SR2. When it was released?

Do you use Station Configuration editor?

Best regards,

I've a similar behavoir when my "Intel® Gigabit CT Desktop Adapter" goes online

Assertion!

Program: pniopcac.exe
File: ..\..\..\..\..\com_comps\pcsrt\lib\src\pcsrt_etherstatus.cpp
Line: 96

transferred == sizeof(LSA_UINT32)

Abort: debugger gets invoked.
Retry: create a memory dump.
Ignore continue with program.

It came with the installation of the SIMATIC Devices Drivers.
Maybe this NIC is also for WinAC and this is causing the trouble?

The file version of PNIOPCAC.exe is 8.1.1.4286.

Hi Simulator.

Siemens has told me that the problem accur when you instal S7 prof sp2 and you have some VPN connections installes on the PC. They do not say anny speciel, so I thinl it is any type of VPN.

It is the same problem  with WinCC 7 sp3!!!!

I did not find any solution on this problem, and Siemens could not tell me,,,. but for luck I had a ghost of my PC.

If it can help...

>>>  following VPN clients are installed on my laptop :
  • Ultra VNC
  • eCatcher (for eWON router)

>>> a piece of info of pniopac.exe

  • Localisation : %PROGRAMFILES%\SIEMENS\SIMATIC.NET\SimNetCom\PNIOPCAC.exe

Does it mean that only Profinet I/O (configurator ?) will be affected ?

Hm, maybe you are missing the lastest version of the S7DOS component. Which S7DOS version do you have installed on your system? If you have the lastest servicepack for TIA Portal you should have also the lastest S7DOS 8.2.4.

Have Fun!

Hey TomDeWou,

thank's for your answer. You're right, on a system with WinCC i have that S7Dos component in that version you wrote, and on that system i fixed the pniopcac.exe error by changing the settings on the PNIO Dialog in PG/PC Interface Settings like discussed here: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/61595882
Then the pniopcac.exe errors after the ShrewSoft VPN dialup are gone.

But i have different systems here without WinCC, only Simatic Manager and WinCC Flexible 2008 SP3. On that systems i cannot find S7Dos or the PNIO Dialog.
Excuse my dumb question, but i'm not familiar with all the different siemens packages and their contents. What do i have to install on that kind of systems to get the S7Dos component ?

Thank's ... Michael.

SIMATIC Manager (STEP7) and WCF 2008 Sp3 should have the latest S7DOS included, so if you use the latest versions you must have a current version of S7DOS there as well.

So I suggest you should check whether there a new version / update / Servicepack / anything like this.

Have Fun!

Hey TomDeWou,

i checked the installed Versions and available Updates.
I have Simatic Step 7 Professional 2010 (v 5.5) SP2 and WinCC Flexible 2008 SP3 with all Updates but still no PNIO Dialog or S7Dos. Both packages in Full Installation Mode.

Thank's for you help.

Michael.

I suggest you contact the Technical support and ask them if they have required version you need.
Just send them the problem description and the installed software (exported from SIMATIC Manager). Then they can check what you have and what you need.
Might be the best way.

Anyway, the message is anoying, but as far as I know you don't need to care about.

Have Fun!

Hi.
I get this info from Siemens:

Fra CS Tyskland

'With the Update3 for STEP7 V11 SP2 a new S7DOS was enclosed. That is a kernel of all SIMATIC products. S7DOS bring the required drivers equipment for our SIMATIC and the availability of the collectedly interfaces that you can see in PG/PC interfaces.

Who gets the warning "PNIOPCAC.EXE . . . "  now has the possibility of switching the warning off with this new S7DOS. We have described how this works in the following FAQ: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/61595882

Herewith this warning is switched off also in all other S7 Software products, of course.

Link to the Update3 BASIC and professional:

http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/58112582'

AND.... this hotfix should be available

I think as a Simatic Manager user he will get the same answer of you: its an anoying message, but you don't need to care with it.

Siemens will eventually finish working on solving this tinny minor error.  It just remembers you of Siemens great software every time you turn on your computer, even before you open their interfaces.Rnf:lblSmileyTooltip_header

Hello.
I also had the pniopcac.exe warning like in first post. I made some tests and could solve this by 2 ways.
First is switch-off virtual network adapter, as was mentioned earlier.
Second is switch-off "PROFINET IO RT-Protocol V2.0" protocol used by VPN-connection. Open properties of VPN-connection and deselect checkbox of following protocol:
PROFINET IO RT-Protocol V2.0
In my case this was sufficient.

There are also other Siemens protocols (used by VPN-connection) which also may be the cause of this warning:
SIMATIC Industrial Ethernet (ISO)
PROFINET IO RT-Protocol (LLDP)
you may try to switch-off them also.
