Hello Friends,
I need to interface Siemens S7-300 PLC with ABB 800xA DCS through Profibus, I dont have any idea how to initiate/plan it in Siemens. Can I get help through this forum in this regard from any one who have experienced such sort of interface.
Thanks in Advance, Raheel Meraj

You will firstly need to install the GSD file for the ABB drive in your hardware configuration catalog. Once this is done you can then configure this drive like any other Siemens drive. With this GSD file you will have modules that you can choose and addressing of these modules is the same as how you would address an input or output module.
Hope this helps.
Hope this helps

Hello Raheel
I think mumbles misread the part number and thought it is a "DCS 800" (which is an ABB drive and in this case his advise would have been correct, ABB's naming convention is a rather confusing one).
Anyhow, I can see a couple of options for you to link the ABB 800xA DCS with your S7 via Profibus.
1.) Add a Profibus DP Master module to the ABB DCS (should it not already have one, this LINK has some more info on the Profibus capability of the ABB DCS). Obtain the GSD file for your particular S7 CPU from HERE and configure the S7 CPU as a DP Slave in the Master configuration of your ABB DCS. You S7 CPU will now become a so called I-Slave (intelligent DP Slave). Have a look at these two links which explain the general setup principle of this quite well (it doesn't matter if the DP master is an S7 or ABB DCS or something else, the principle is the same). Master-slave connection between two CPUs in different projects DP link between CPU 315-2DP (slave) and S7-400 (master) 2.) Should your S7 CPU already have DP Slaves connected to its DP port (which means the S7 is a DP Master too) OR you generally rather go down this path, you can use a so called "DP/DP coupler" as the link between the two DP Masters (ABB DCS and S7 CPU). Have a search for "DP/DP coupler" in this forum and the service and support web and you'll find plenty of examples, FAQ's and the manual to help you with this. Going down the Option 1 path means that you'd be limited to exchange 244 Bytes of (I/O) data either way (i.e. the limit of a DP slave). Should you have to exchange more data, Option 2 would allow you to use more than one DP/DP coupler, with each coupler giving you 244 bytes of data either way.
I hope this helps
