Siemens Drive Technologies has expanded its drive line with the Sinamics S110, a single-axis drive in the 0.12 to 90 kW performance range. This AC servo converter has been specifically designed for simple positioning applications with synchronous or asynchronous motors. The SIMATIC FS670 laser scanner for motion monitoring was especially developed for application with transfer carriages.
In addition to the standard personnel protection safety functions, it reliably calculates positioning distances and speeds.
It monitors up to 6 different speeds and automatically corrects the selected protective zone if required. The integrated speed calculation renders additional incremental encoders unnecessary – the safety laser scanner and the standard PLC jointly realize the entire functionality of speed-dependent protective zone monitoring. |

The ASIsafe Solution local has been completely innovated with the safety monitor in version V3 as well as the corresponding configuration and diagnostics software asimon V3. Via the AS-i safety monitor V3, safe outputs can be connected to the AS-i network. In parallel with its second enabling circuit, the device allows for distributed control, e.g. of a safety valve or motor starter. Furthermore, the new safety monitor V3 acts as a safe coupler between two AS-i networks: The asimon V3 configuration software offers improved transparency and flexibility. Asimon V3 is downward-compatible and can also be applied with all previous versions of the safety monitor with the respective functional scope. more |

The SIMATIC Safety Matrix version 6.1 engineering tool for the configuration of safety applications in the process industry, is certified in accordance with SIL 3 by the TÜV (German technical inspectorate), and eases safety lifecycle management - from analysis to realization, up to operation of the system. Based on the cause-and-effect method, the SIMATIC Safety Matrix is particularly suited for processes with defined requirements or events which call for special safety responses. It serves the description and documentation of safety functions and is implemented automatically into the safety-related program. Special programming know-how is not required. The engineering tool offers online monitoring, alarm and report functions as well as change management. Safety applications can be easily visualized on a PCS 7 operator station via the Safety Matrix Viewer. more |
