SIMATIC Factory Safety

Overview

Safety SIMATIC automation systems are used to control processes, and change into or remain in a safe state when a fault occurs. They provide an integrated, efficient safety concept in plants with particularly demanding safety requirements.

Compared with conventional safety technology, a safety SIMATIC also enables intelligent system access up to and including the electrical drives and measuring systems. The improved fault localization thanks to comprehensive diagnostics information enables a fast continuation of production after a safety-related shutdown.

Product overview

The safety systems are based on a standard controller whose operating system and hardware components have been expanded with a variety of protective mechanisms.

I/O

ET 200M
Can be used for centralized I/O configurations for the S7-300 and as distributed I/O via PROFIBUS with PROFIsafe profile
ET 200S
For distributed I/O configurations optional via PROFIBUS or PROFINET with PROFIsafe profile
ET 200pro
The modular and functional I/O in high degree of protection IP67 for the distributed installation optional via PROFIBUS or PROFINET with PROFIsafe profile
ET 200eco
The distributed digital block peripheral device in high degree of protection IP67 for PROFIBUS with PROFIsafe

The safety SIMATIC controllers can be expanded by configuring the ET 200M, ET 200S, ET 200pro or ET 200eco stations with safety modules.

Engineering

Distributed Safety
