PROFIsafe permits standard and safety-related communications on one and the same bus. With SIL 3 (Safety Integrity Level), it fulfills the highest requirements in the process industries.

High-availability also applies to communication, because depending on the network topology, redundant connections are created, to which changeover can take place automatically in the event of a fault.

The bus is redundantly configured, i.e. failure in the bus can also be tolerated.
