Getting Every Item of Baggage to the Right

Munich Airport Relies on AS-Interface
Due
primarily to its size and the tight deadline, the expansion of Munich Airport
with Terminal 2 has been one of the most challenging projects to face the field
of traffic engineering.
The realization of the overall
concept is being implemented as a consortium with Siemens Dematic as consortium
manager and FKI Logistex Crisplant as silent consortium partner. FKI Logistex
Crisplant is supplying the required container handling systems.
As a solution to the high demands made on the baggage logistics, Siemens Dematic is relying on two key concepts: Typicals and distribution.
The consistent use of repetitive segments – so-called
typicals – enables management of widely extended, highly complex (baggage) conveying
systems. The distributed configuration of the control engineering allows optimum
adaptation to this concept. The rugged, simple and flexible networking capability
of the AS-Interface components make them absolutely ideal for the task in hand.
Approx. 20.000 drives on the 40-km conveyor section are controlled using AS-Interface. |
