Innovative Conveying and Storage Systems

with AS-Interface at the BMW Supply Center in Wackersdorf, Germany

BMW Supply Center, Wackersdorf, Germany
Pre-packaging area with modular conveying system
Standardized conveyor modules are assembled to form complete conveyor lines. The approx. 300 drives are switched locally through the AS Interface compact starter.
The motor starter directly on the drive is fed by the power bus. No need for extensive power cables.
Modular conveying concept with distributed electronic motor starters at the AS Interface
From Wackersdorf to all corners of the globe: with its optimized packaging technique, the new BMW supply center dispatches parts to its production centers in the USA and South Africa. The entire pre-packaging area is linked by a package conveying system with approx. 300 drives. An innovative, modular conveying concept has been developed to fulfill the ambitious time schedule.
Fully distributed motor starter concept:
Approx. 400 distributed electronic AS Interface compact starters were used.
Customer advantages:
The electronic starters with the highest operating cycles enable dynamic conveying concepts with the shortest cycle times. Thus, the conveyors only run when necessary. One of the advantages of this is that it minimizes the transport buffer.
Optimized stockkeeping: The 2 types of electronic starters cover the whole spectrum of required motor outputs.
Only one power cable required: the AS Interface compact starter is fed via a 35A power bus; i.e. the motor starters assigned to a conveyor segment are supplied by a single line – the efficient 35A power bus.
20% reduction of on-site assembly times
Cable integrated in the conveyor belt profile
