SIMATIC Maintenance Station is now available

SIMATIC Maintenance Station is now available

August 2007

The SIMATIC Maintenance Station 2007 is a NEW software option for diagnostics and plant-related asset management on the basis of STEP 7 and WinCC.

  • Option package for STEP7 V5.4 and WinCC V6.2 for diagnostics and maintenance of machines and plant
  • Generation of a WinCC maintenance view for a STEP 7 project / multi-project

Features

With Totally Integrated Automation, the same system can be used for automation and maintenance: SIMATIC WinCC, the SCADA system for Totally Integrated Automation.

The resulting information is selectively divided to prevent the operators and maintenance engineers from being flooded with information.

To achieve this, a maintenance station is introduced in addition to the actual SCADA system. The operator can use the SCADA station to access all of the process-relevant information and can manually intervene in the plant sequence. Maintenance-relevant information is kept away from the SCADA station. This information is presented for the maintenance engineer on the maintenance station.

It is irrelevant whether the SCADA system and the maintenance station are executed on a common computer or on separate computers. Since the same HMI tools are used, switching over of the display between the SCADA system and the maintenance station is possible at any time.

SIMATIC Maintenance Station features:

  • Automatic generation of a maintenance view in WinCC, derived from the STEP 7 hardware configuration
  • I&M Online data are allowed for in the I&M group export
  • Visualization of all automation components for the whole plant, from management to field level, in ready linked hierarchically arranged WinCC images
Representation of central and distributed SIMATIC S7 components, PROFIBUS and PROFINET networks and associated bus nodes
Ethernet network components and industry PCs can be connected via the SIMATIC Net SNMP OPC Server
  • Display of the device statuses with group status generation in overview and detail images
  • Support of the device conditions “Maintenance requirement“ and “Maintenance request“ for condition-based maintenance
  • Provision of uniform faceplates for the display of detail information for all depicted components
  • Display of device identification data (electronic type label)
  • Forwarding of maintenance requests directly from WinCC
  • Integrated display of the request status

Benefits

An automation system incorporating the SIMATIC Maintenance Station provides:

  • Reduction of standstill times:
Problems in the plant are identified more quickly due to the uniform and clear representation of information that is maintenance relevant
  • Prevention of standstill times:
    Support of condition-based maintenance
  • Reduction of maintenance costs:
Optimization of the information flow between production and maintenance by forwarding maintenance requests and display of the request status
  • Transparency and traceability:
All events are message-based and can thus be archived and traced
An extensive database is created that can be analyzed with WinCC means or other external tools
  • Scalability:
Support of WinCC single-user stations and Client Server configurations.
The SIMATIC Maintenance Station can be added to an existing WinCC project
  • Consistency:
The maintenance view is generated from the control project and is consistent with the latter
  • Flexibility in the choice of devices:
Use of PROFIBUS and PROFINET standards for device integration
Additional proxy concept permits depiction of devices that are not part of the STEP 7 Hardware Configuration or that do not support the standard diagnostics of PROFIBUS / PROFINET
SIMATIC Maintenance Station

Licensing

The SIMATIC Maintenance Station comes as a basic package containing all the tools required for configuration of a Maintenance Station, as well as a Runtime License for the display of 100 devices. Power Packs for 100, 500 or 1000 devices are available for the operation of installations with larger quantity frameworks. They are simply added and can be combined at random.

The preconditions for the configuration of the SIMATIC Maintenance Station are a STEP 7 license (V5.4 and higher), a WinCC RC license (V6.2) and, if necessary, the SIMATIC Net licenses for the plant configuration.

The preconditions for the operation of a SIMATIC Maintenance Station are the WinCC licenses (V6.2) as required for the plant configuration.

Countable devices are:

  • AS systems
  • Distributed devices (PROFIBUS / PROFINET)
  • PCs
  • Network components
  • Asset Proxies

The SIMATIC Maintenance Station supports German / English / French / Italian / Spanish. The messages displayed by the Maintenance Station can be translated in STEP 7 by the user into other languages as well.
