New version of Pointek CLS 100, the compact point level switch from Siemens
Peterborough, Canada, June 10, 2004 – Siemens Milltronics has added an all-plastic model to the Pointek® CLS 100 range. The new model has a thermoplastic polyester enclosure and integrated PPS (Polyphenylene Sulfide) process connection and probe. It is the economical solution for accurate point level detection in general industry.
Pointek CLS 100 is a compact 2-wire capacitance switch for level detection in constricted spaces, interfaces, solids, liquids, slurries and foam. It uses a unique Inverse Frequency approach to capacitance technology. A variable frequency oscillator registers a change in capacitance as a change in frequency. A small change in frequency is easy to detect, resulting in higher accuracy and resolution. Pointek CLS 100 also includes advanced tip-sensing technology. With only the tip of the probe sensitive, Pointek CLS 100 achieves a very accurate and repeatable switch point. Tank walls, variations in product quality, vapour and dust have a negligible effect on the unit.
Its short insertion length of 100 mm (4") and versatility in various applications and in vessels or pipes makes Pointek CLS 100 a good replacement for traditional capacitance sensors and vibrating forks. The PPS probe is chemically resistant with an effective process operating temperature range from -40 to 100 °C (-40 to 212 °F). The fully potted design ensures reliability in vibrating environments such as agitated tanks up to 4 g. When used with a SensGuard protection cover, it is protected from shearing, impact and abrasion in tough primary processes. It is available with GP, DIP or IP68 rating.
For more demanding applications Pointek CLS 100 is also available with a stainless steel process connection in combination with a PPS or PVDF probe. These process connections are offered with a thermoplastic polyester enclosure or a compact integrated cable version. Intrinsically safe, dust-ignition-proof and general purpose options are available in both versions.
